The Google Scholarships

Searching for scholarshipsLike many parents with college-bound teens, I often "google" the word "scholarships." My query returns 93,600,000 results and when I browse the first few pages of scholarship links, I notice what's not there–Google's own scholarship opportunities.

While it's likely that these are included in the links to services that aggregate scholarships or facilitate matching students to opportunities, I thought I'd take a moment to share Google's scholarship links here.

My own kids think it's geeky that I subscribe to the Google Student Blog, but I've found it to be an incredibly easy-to-read technical, and informational, blog and it's written by students. It's also where I found out about Google's scholarship programs.

According to their web site, Google's global scholarship program has awarded $8.8 million in scholarship funds to more than 2,100 Google Scholars. Their award competitions span the globe and are available in Australia, China, India, Japan, Europe,  Middle East, Africa, Latin America, the U.S., and Canada.
