Scholarship Mom Tip #38: Don’t Wait to Choose a College

college decisions

Many students assume that they cannot begin applying for college scholarships until they have been accepted into college. This is wrong and many scholarship deadlines will pass if they wait until college acceptance letters arrive.

Students do not need to be 100% sure of their college choices when applying for scholarships; they just need to have a few colleges in mind that they can list on each scholarship application, assuming that information is requested by the scholarship providers.

If they win the scholarship money, they will either be sent a check in their name or a form asking which college the organization can send the money to in the name of the student.

Students should apply for scholarships all throughout their senior year, doing their very best not to let any scholarship opportunities past them by.
