Scholarship Mom Tip #101: Make ’em Want to Read
There are many ways for students to set their college scholarship essays apart from the rest and any little edge can mean big scholarship dollars.
One way to make an essay stand out is to give it a catchy title.
Choose something that will make a scholarship judge curious about the essay and instill in them the desire to want to read it until the end.
Giving an essay a title is usually not suggested in scholarship guidelines, but there is no reason not to do it. Even this small extra step shows a student’s attention to detail and a desire to go the extra mile. And, THAT is how college scholarships are won!
Essay readers dread mediocrity. Make yours stand out — but in a good way, please.
It’s fine to re-use essays written for other purposes, but make absolutely certain you’ve made the necessary tweaks to customize for this particular scholarship competition.
