Scholarship Mom Tip #144: Find a Scholarship Mentor

scholarship mentorScholarship mentors can be helpful when your student is searching for scholarships.

When successful people are asked about the secret of their success, many mention a specific person who has helped them along the way. Scholarship seeking students should be encouraged to find a scholarship mentor who can help them in the process of finding money for college and should not be afraid to ask for help.

Parents, trusted relatives, guidance counselors and teachers are all good choices for mentors. Scholarship mentors can proofread essays, keep their eyes open for award opportunities, and encourage students to keep applying for college scholarships throughout high school and while in college.

They can also challenge students to keep pushing forward and work harder to find scholarship success. Choosing a mentor is a smart scholarship strategy!
