Smart College Visit, Inc. is seeking 2 social media marketing interns for Summer 2016 to contribute to our online marketing initiatives for SmartCollegeVisit.com and for BlacksburgLodging.com. These positions are ideal for college students from area universities such as Virginia Tech, Radford Univeristy and New River Community College. SMART COLLEGE VISIT INTERNSHIP, Blacksburg Virginia SmartCollegeVisit.com enables college-bound teens and their families to search for colleges, get advice on applying to and visiting colleges, and provides the travel logistics to every college in the country. We are very active on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram and are seeking an intern to help maintain our growth and social media presence. Our internship program provides real-world experience for current college students interested in sharing tips about their experiences as college students, using social media as a marketing tool, writing, tourism, and content development. Interns will learn how to work in a virtual environment, network, connect with other professionals in the higher educations space, and use a variety of social media tools, while representing themselves and Smart College Visit in a professional manner. Duration: Summer 2016 Hours: 10 hours/week – Unpaid BLACKSBURG LODGING INTERNSHIP, Blacksburg Virginia The Blacksburg Lodging internship program provides real-world experience for current college students interested in social media, writing, tourism, and marketing. Interns will learn how to work in a virtual environment, network, connect with hospitality and tourism providers, and use a variety of social media tools, while representing themselves and Blacksburg Lodging in a professional manner. Blacksburg Lodging is a division of Smart College Visit (SCV). Blacksburg Lodging has been serving guests of the New River Valley, Virginia Tech, and the Blacksburg area since 2009. EXPECTATIONS AND DELIVERABLES Flexible work schedule: 10 hours/week · Share articles, tweets, photos, videos & other content about Blacksburg via social media daily using Hootsuite or other social media scheduler. Engage appropriately with followers. · Write blog posts (approximately 250 to 500 words) Goal: 2-3 blog posts per month about events, businesses, things to see and do, etc. · Adapt web site content for other mediums as needed (ex: SlideShare). · Help stay abreast of area events and make updates to event calendar. Interns should expect to improve writing and communication skills by working with our in-house editors and to expand their knowledge on using social media effectively, meeting deadlines, and working collaboratively as an active member of a virtual team.
